A new venture here at this never-read personal blog. There is a profound profunderance of awfully designed bathrooms in this fair city of ours, Austin. With as much use as a restroom gets, it is amazing that bathrooms seem merely an afterthought. One would imagine toilets and sinks would be carefully placed to avoid gazing sightlines, but this is certainly not the case. I present the first entry into this lavatorial critique - Rounders. I apologize for the lack of images, but the public may not understand why a male in his 30s is taking pictures of a bathroom in a pizza restaurant. But clearly the design flaws are evident here. This shot is from the urinal - anyone washing their hands or dropping a deuce can easily see someone urinating. For those of us that appreciate personal privacy while relieving ones self, this can be a bit disconcerting. This could have easily been solved by placing the urinal on the other wall, which is shared by the ladies bathroom. On top of this, if someone is using said urinal, their posterior could be exposed to anyone in the hall whilst the door was being opened. Now I do realize that by moving plumbing, a building inspector would have to approve any changes, and the current tenants, Rounders, were likely not present when this building was constructed. Nevertheless, this is an inherent design flaw. Is the option of not potentially exposing yourself to a stranger too much to ask?
